This is 55% higher than the 36 attacks ISIS conducted a year earlier, in October 2023. So far in 2024, ISIS has been responsible for at least 587 attacks across Syria, which puts it on track to more than double its 2023 tempo Syria-wide. Most significantly, ISIS is more than tripling the rate of attacks it conducted in 2023 in Syria’s northeast, home to U.S. troops and their Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) partners — with an average of 8 attacks recorded per month in 2023 and 26 per month in 2024.
